Pelican Island to be discussed

The Hillsborough County Real Estate Department will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Dickenson Elementary School cafeteria. The department has been petitioned by the residents of Pelican Island subdivision to vacate and return to private ownership the roadways within Pelican Island. The meeting facility is accessible in accordance with the Americans With Disabilities Act; additional necessary accommodations will be provided with a 48-hour notice. 2 flyball tournament planned

The K-9 Educational Training Center of Hillsborough will sponsor two flyball tournaments from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Flyball races match two teams of four dogs each, racing side by side over a 51-foot-long course. Each dog must run in relay fashion, jumping over four jumps spaced 10 feet apart, trigger a flyball box that releases the ball, then retrieve it back over the four jumps. The first team to have all four dogs finish the course without error wins the race. The event is open to the public, but dogs are not allowed unless they are entered in the tournament.
