On a silver platter
Tom Lehman was in control at the Buick Open on Sunday until he found a bunker on the 13th hole. This doesn't typically present a major problem, but Lehman stewed over the shot for a long time before finally firing _ and sculling his ball over the green and into the water. The bogey gave Tom Pernice the opening he needed, and left Lehman in second, denying him his first PGA Tour victory in three years.
Back in contention
Casey Martin, the disabled golfer who is allowed to ride a cart in competition, finished second at the Nike Omaha Classic and has consecutive top 10s, which have moved him to 11th on the Nike Tour money list. The top 15 players at the end of the season receive their PGA Tour card.
That's gotta hurt
Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal has not fared well since breaking his hand in anger at the U.S. Open, where he had to withdraw. Since then, he has missed three straight cuts, including last weekend's Buick Open.
Now we know
"It's been pretty busy. Back home, it's been crazy. Everyone wants to talk about it. I went shopping, and it took me a half an hour to buy some boxer shorts. Ridiculous. But you work your whole life for this. It's amazing."
