Andy T. Miller, a former mayor and commissioner of Redington Beach, has died at age 82.
Mr. Miller, who was elected mayor in December 1978 and began a two-year term the following January, died Wednesday (Aug. 11, 1999) at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
Since June he had been living in Franklin, Tenn., a town south of Nashville and the home of a daughter.
Born in Fletcher, Okla., Mr. Miller moved to Redington Beach in 1974 from Oklahoma City, where he retired from the fire department and served for 17 years as first director of the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association.
Locally, he was an elder of Faith Presbyterian Church, Seminole.
His wife, Lois, died last year. Survivors include a son, Andy Jr., Grandview, Mo.; a daughter, Christy Miller, Franklin; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Aug. 29 at the State Firefighters Museum in Oklahoma City.
