WHO: Autry Denson. HT/WT: 5-10, 193.
COLLEGE: Notre Dame. POSITION: Running back.
NFL EXPERIENCE: Rookie.
CAREER HIGHLIGHT: Denson is the all-time leading rusher in Notre Dame history with 4,318 yards. He scored 43 rushing touchdowns and earned second-team All-America honors as a senior.
GLORY DAYS: Denson switched from quarterback to running back upon entering Nova High in Davie. The change was a good move: He finished his career as Broward County's all-time leading rusher with 4,738 yards and 66 TDs.
BRUSH WITH GREATNESS: Meeting current and former football standouts was common at Notre Dame. Denson met current NFL veterans Jerome Bettis and Tom Carter, and had a class with ex-Bucs RB Reggie Brooks. Denson also met rapper Ice Cube in a Fort Lauderdale mall.
TO MAKE THE TEAM: Denson, a seventh-round pick, is seen as someone who can fill the void left by veteran Jerry Ellison, a backup RB and special-teams standout. Second-year RB Rabih Abdullah also wants that spot, but it's quite possible both can make the team.
QUOTE: "I'm just going to do whatever I can to help the team and make the squad: rush punts, return kicks, play running back. Whatever it is, I'm willing to do it."
