NAACP objects to changes to Black College Reunion

The local NAACP chapter is opposing suggestions that the name and date of Black College Reunion be changed.

Cynthia Slater, first vice president for the NAACP's Daytona Beach-Volusia County chapter, released a statement saying another local organization acted hastily in proposing the changes.

Representatives of Mission United, which promotes communication between black and white residents, suggested several ways to clean up the street party image of Black College Reunion, including changing the name to BlackCultural Reunion and holding it later in April.
