Rotary Club lists awards, officers

The Rotary Club of New Port Richey has installed new officers for the 1999-2000 year.

Bruce Mills will serve as president. He will be assisted by Frank Grey, president-elect; John Brasher, vice president; Pat Epting, secretary; Chip Wright, treasurer; and Don Griffin, sergeant-at-arms.

Directors include Allen Sigmon and Kurt Conover, community service; Judy Parker and Gary Taylor, club service; Marilynn deChant and Steve Henry, vocational service; and David Parris and Tom Robertson Jr., international service. Jim Curtin will continue to serve as the club bulletin editor.

Special recognition was given to Dr. Niles Kinnunen for his 35 years as chairman of the annual honor student banquet. Gregory Gay will now assume that position. The Rookie of the Year Award went to newcomer Mike Post and the Rotarian of the Year Award was shared by Pat Epting and Dave Parris.

Key chairmen of the club's major events were recognized and received plaques. They include Dr. Laura Kinkead and Peggy Clay for work on the boat parade and Dave Parris for chairing the Wild Game Dinner. Shelita Walden was recognized for the family night event.

Dennis Brown, Dr. Lamar Miller and John Herig earned the highest Rotary honor, the Paul Harris Fellow Award.

The New Port Richey Rotary Club is a service organization affiliated with Rotary International. The local chapter was founded in 1959 and has a membership of 107. The club meets at 12:15 p.m. every Wednesday at the Spartan Manor in New Port Richey. The club was recently named the Civic Club of the Year by the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce.
