Clearwater man accused of sex abuse of boys

A 36-year-old man was arrested Friday on charges he abused two boys in his apartment, police said.

Police began their investigation after the parents of a 12-year-old boy called police, telling them the suspect, Tony W. Wood, of 2690 Drew St., had given their son marijuana, police said.

Wood showed the boy pornographic videotapes, magazines and images off his computer, said Clearwater police Detective Chuck Esposito.

Since the two met, police said, Wood committed at least three different acts of lewd and lascivious behavior on the boy. Wood also committed at least three different acts of lewd and lascivious behavior on the boy's 13-year-old friend, police said.

The names of the boys were not released because of their ages and the nature of the charges.

Police are reviewing Wood's Internet account and are investigating whether he may have abused other children.

"We have information (that) a lot of children frequented his home," Esposito said.

Wood was taken to the Pinellas County Jail, where he was booked on six counts of lewd and lascivious behavior. He was being held there late Friday in lieu of $120,000 bail.

Seminole man stabbed

nephew, deputies say

SEMINOLE _ A Seminole man stabbed his nephew with a butcher knife Thursday after the two men got into an argument inside their apartment, sheriff's officials said.

The victim, identified by Bayfront Medical Center officials as Salvin Gustavo Aucada, 18, was listed in good condition.

Sheriff's investigators were called to the scene, 8400 Bay Pines Blvd., Cottage 10, at 10:08 p.m. Thursday. Witnesses said Aucada and his uncle, Raul Antonio-Cruz Rodriguez, had been drinking and were fighting, said sheriff's Sgt. Greg Tita.

Witnesses told deputies Rodriguez ran to the southern edge of the property, Tita said. Rodriguez told deputies there had been a robbery at the apartment, explaining the injuries to his nephew, according to arrest affidavits.

But deputies found a butcher knife in weeds near the apartment and charged Rodriguez with domestic aggravated battery.

Rodriguez, 46, was taken to Bayfront, where he was treated for cuts to his lips and forehead. He was later taken to Pinellas County Jail, where he was being held without bail.
