Brad Baisley's progression through the minor leagues took a giant leap forward with Thursday's no-hitter, his first ever.
The former Land O'Lakes pitcher fanned 12 batters and walked four in the Piedmont (N.C.) Boll Weevils' 3-0 win over the Hagerstown (Md.) Suns of the Class A South Atlantic League.
Baisley is 10-7 with a 2.26 ERA with 107 strikeouts and 54 walks in his first year in the Philadelphia Phillies organization.
As a Land O'Lakes senior, Baisley shared a no-hitter with Burt Smith, who pitched the final inning of a five-inning 19-0 win over Gulf. Baisley had 10 strikeouts in that game, which was shortened by the 10-run rule.
Earlier this season, Baisley was named Minor League Player of the Week for June 6-12.
