If your child isn't up to date on immunizations, now is the time to make that appointment with your child's pediatrician or visit one of the free clinics at the Pasco County Health Department.
In addition to the usual required vaccines, there have been a few changes for this year:
A requirement for a second dose of measles vaccine, preferably MMR, has been extended to children in kindergarten through grade 9.
Hepatitis B vaccine series has been extended to children in kindergarten through grade 1 and grades 7 through 9.
Tetanus diphtheria, or Td, boosters will be extended to children in grades 7 through 9.
Students must have completed the Td booster and their second measles vaccination and have at least started their hepatitis B series in order to attend school.
Free immunizations are provided at the Pasco County Health Department. School and sports physicals also are available for a fee based on income.
