St. Pete Beach firefighters to raise funds for MDA

(ran East, South, Beach editions)

St. Pete Beach firefighters will be "filling their boots" with donations to help fight muscular dystrophy beginning Aug. 27.

Firefighters will be holding out their boots on local street corners, seeking donations to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

MDA provides services to area children and adults with neuromuscular disorders, including free medical assistance at their clinic at St. Petersburg-Suncoast Medical Group. Collections also will go toward the summer camp that MDA sponsors in Brandon each year for children with the disorder. This year marks 45 years of MDA sponsorship by Tampa Bay area firefighters.
