No charges likely
Sheriff Bob Boydston has urged Clay County Prosecutor Don Norris to consider charging Derrick Thomas in a highway wreck that killed a passenger and left the Kansas City Chiefs linebacker paralyzed from the chest down. But Norris said he does not plan an investigation of the Jan. 23 crash on Interstate 435. An icy snow was falling, and Norris says he views the accident as weather-related.
Cancer doesn't
stop this coach
Not even cancer can keep this coach down. Four days after her first chemotherapy treatment, Kathy Delaney-Smith simply looked like a perturbed women's basketball coach as she led her Harvard team to a 68-57 victory over Albany, N.Y. Delaney-Smith did not want the Crimson to think her first game after treatment for breast cancer was about anything but basketball for her. "Some say "We're playing for Kathy,' " she said. "I don't want them to. It's not right." As for missing Saturday's game, it was never an option, even though she felt ill. "I would die a thousand deaths if I had to miss a game," Delaney-Smith said.
