JAN. 30, 2000: Kenya Airways Flight 431 crashed into the Atlantic Ocean shortly after take off from Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The Airbus 310 carried 10 crew members and 169 passengers. At least 10 survived.
OCT. 31, 1999: EgyptAir Flight 990, on a flight from New York to Cairo, plummets into the ocean 60 miles south of the Massachusetts island of Nantucket. All 217 on board the Boeing 767 are killed.
FEB. 24, 1999: A China Southwest Airlines passenger plane crashes in a field 250 miles south of Shanghai in China's coastal Zhejiang province. All 61 aboard the Russian-built TU-154 are killed.
DEC. 11, 1998: A Thai Airways Airbus A310-200 crashes during a landing attempt at Surat Thani airport, 330 miles south of Bangkok, Thailand. Of those on board, 101 are killed and 45 survive.
SEPT. 2, 1998: Swissair Flight 111 crashes off Nova Scotia while en route from New York to Geneva. All 229 aboard the MD-11 are killed.
FEB. 16, 1998: A China Airlines Airbus A-300-600R crashes while approaching the airport in Taipei, Taiwan, in fog and light rain. All 196 on board are killed, as well as six people on the ground.
