As Blake and Armwood's Class 2A, District 9 semifinal headed to penalty kicks, Yellow Jacket goalie Jill Powers would not blink.
Powers made three saves in the shootout and Lynne Williams scored the game-winner against her old team as Blake advanced to the final, 3-1.
"We were dominating the whole game," said Williams, who also made four saves in goal. "They were definitely afraid of us."
Blake outshot Armwood 21-7 and had two empty net chances in overtime. Vanessa Martinez cut through Armwood's defense, found herself with a yawning net but bounced her shot off the right post. Karli Jankowski's rebound sailed out of bounds.
"It seemed like the ball could bounce either way," Blake coach John Mendoza said. "One bounce for them or us and it would be a goal. It just seemed like that was the kind of game it was."
In the night's first game, Jefferson scored two goals in a 90-second span to beat Robinson 2-1.
Jacquelyn Easparro's goal 15 minutes in put Robinson ahead 1-0, but Jefferson controlled the second half. Chelsea Russell and Mana Ortega scored for Jefferson in a game that was not as close as the score indicates.
"She has some of the best ball control I've ever seen," Jefferson coach Kathy Brock said of Russell. "She can see players from every angle."
Jefferson and Blake meet in the final at 7 p.m. Thursday.
