Man charged with hitting boy, 3, in face with toy

(ran PC edition)

A Zephyrhills man was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated child abuse for striking a 3-year-old boy in the face with a toy shopping cart, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reported.

Michael John Potter, 30, of 8106 Gall Blvd., told deputies that he swung the toy shopping cart at the boy because he was angry, reports said. He said he didn't mean to hit the boy.

The boy suffered bruises, abrasions and swelling on his face as a result of the blow, reports said.

Potter was held Tuesday in lieu of $15,000 bail.
