Man hit crossing Madeira Beach street

A 69-year-old man was struck by a car Wednesday night as he and his wife tried to cross Gulf Boulevard.

Ralph and Bernice Santoro, winter residents from Vermont, were crossing at 142nd Avenue when Mr. Santoro was hit by a northbound Cadillac driven by Roy Ellis, 83, of Redington Shores.

Santoro suffered a fractured pelvis and fractures in both legs. His condition was not available Wednesday night.

His wife was not injured. The investigation continues.
