Sizing up food portions

If you're puzzled about food-serving sizes, here are guidelines from the International Food Information Council Foundation: { cup fruit or vegetable equals a small fist; 3 ounces cooked meat, poultry or fish equals a deck of cards; 1 medium apple or orange equals a baseball, and a small baked potato equals a computer mouse.

TO YOUR HEALTH: Can the popular belief that fresh fruits and veggies are always the most nutritious. Some nutrients fare better in the process of freezing and canning, Fitness magazine reports.

Nutritionally speaking, tomatoes, spinach, peaches and apricots are better canned. Peas and lima beans are best frozen. Potatoes and strawberries are best fresh.
