Jason Arnott broke a tie with a goal nine seconds into the second and the host Devils secured the league's best record (33-15-5) heading into the All-Star break.

Bobby Holik, Brendan Morrison and Denis Pederson also scored and Chris Terreri had 31 saves in a rare start.

In Predators news, the team acquired defenseman John Namestnikov from the Rangers for right wing Jason Dawe in an exchange of minor-leaguers.

STARS 2, COYOTES 0: Ed Belfour had 19 saves for his 48th career shutout and visiting Dallas remained tied for the Pacific Division lead with Phoenix going into the break.

In Coyotes news, veteran left wing Benoit Hogue signed a one-year contract. Terms weren't disclosed. Hogue started last season with the Lightning but was traded in midseason to Dallas. He was not re-signed. Also, goalie Robert Esche was recalled from the minors.

ALL-STAR GAME: Hasek said he won't play in Sunday's game in Toronto because of his nagging groin injury. He'll be replaced on the World Team by Roman Turek of the Blues. The Devils' Patrik Elias was added to the World roster to replace Colorado's Peter Forsberg, who is out with a concussion. Also, Florida left wing Ray Whitney (North America) replaces Blues center Pierre Turgeon (thumb).
