Renters unjustly suffer wrath over illicit tapes

After a newspaper story ran on Thursday about three men charged with videotaping teens performing sex acts, evidently some outraged readers took out their anger by throwing trash and yelling obscenities at the house where the illicit videotaping occurred.

But the men charged in the tapings no longer live at that address on 44th Avenue N; someone else does.

"The people responsible moved out. There are new renters in there that had nothing to do with it," said St. Petersburg police spokesman Bill Doniel.

Police arrested Karl S. Henry, 28, of St. Petersburg; Brian F. Brohel, 20, of Largo; and transient Daniel M. Werner, 23, and charged them with videotaping teens engaged in sex acts.

"People were throwing stuff in the front yard, and yelling things at the house," said St. Petersburg police Lt. Ron Hartz. "But the new renters have nothing to do with this."
