A 26-year-old man already labeled as a sex offender was arrested Wednesday and charged with committing a lewd and lascivious act in the presence of a child younger than 16.
Ian Matthew Woods remained at the Pinellas County Jail Thursday after failing to post $20,000 bond.
Woods was released from a California prison in August after serving time for a conviction for burglary and assault to commit rape, Tarpon Springs police say.
When Woods moved to Tarpon Springs, authorities began notifying local schools and neighbors of his presence, said Sgt. Al MacKenzie.
One of them told officers that there was an incident between Woods and a local child, MacKenzie said.
