Theo Wujcik, painter, printmaker and teacher at the University of South Florida, has won a Richard Florsheim Art Fund grant of $5,000 to support a 30-year retrospective of his work at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art, Largo. Wujcik is the only artist currently active in the bay area to receive the honor in the 11-year history of the fund.

The Florsheim Fund assists American artists of merit, older than 55 and of professional stature, through funding exhibitions, participating in producing catalogs, direct purchase of works, donations to art institutions and partial funding for publishing artists' monographs or books. This season's grants went to 17 artists, and ranged from $3,000 to $12,000.

Though the fund is nationwide, it is administered in Tampa. It has no connection with USF other than to rent a post office box there.
