CFCC NEWSPAPER AWARD: Central Florida Community College newspaper the Patriot Press has received a first place with Special Merit rating for the fall term issues from the American Scholastic Press Association, a national rating service for university, community college and high school publications. The newspaper also received a national first place for its photo essay, "Rebel Without a Cause" in the December issue.

CRYSTAL RIVER HIGH SCHOOL BAND AWARDS: The CRHS Band recently traveled to Tennessee to participate in the Smoky Mountain Music Festival. The band won first place in the AA division. Dance team members won second place in the Intermediate Class High School Winterguard competition. Both the band and the dance team received superior ratings.
