Chris Smith's three-run homer in the eighth inning rallied Florida State to an 8-6 victory over North Carolina State in the Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament Wednesday night.

The Seminoles trailed 5-0 after four and 6-5 in the eighth. But after Scott Boyd's double and a throwing error that allowed Blair McCaleb to reach, Smith homered over the rightfield wall.

It was Smith's 12th homer of the season but his second in ACC play.

North Carolina State had runners on first and second with two outs in the ninth, but Florida State's Mike DiBlasi, its fifth pitcher, struck out Craig Lee to end the game.

GA. TECH 9, DUKE 3: Jason Basil became the first Yellow Jacket player to hit for the cycle in five years, getting a run-scoring triple in the first inning, a third-inning single, a double in the fifth and his 11th home run in the seventh.

Ryan Ritter hit for the cycle in 1995.

UF 7, AUBURN 2: Tim Olson went 4-for-4 and drove in two runs for Florida in Hoover, Ala.

The Gators picked up all they needed in the first, scoring six runs on four hits and two Auburn errors.

Mike Smalley went seven innings for the win, giving up one run on three hits and striking out five.

Auburn's Levale Speigner took the loss. Speigner lasted 1 innings, giving up seven runs, four earned, on six hits.
