2 raised to rank of master Mason

Steve Branham of Palm Harbor and Wayne LaFleur of Dunedin were raised to master Mason in a special joint-degree program recently at the Masonic Lodge in Dunedin. Sixty members from District 20 participated, including: Sutherland Lodge 174 F&AM, Palm Harbor; Dunedin Lodge F&AM; Tampa Bay Lodge 252 F&AM, Safety Harbor; and Clearwater Lodge 127 F&AM.

The degree team included, from Dunedin Lodge, Dennis Martin, senior deacon, Jim Tuller, master, Dave Carson, chaplain, Romeo Scerbo, secretary, Bob Clarkson, treasurer, Dennis Martin, senior deacon, and Robert Haynes, organist; from Tampa Bay Lodge, Tony Rhodes, master, Kelfryn William James, senior steward, and Robert Lutterman, junior steward; and from Sutherland Lodge, Garry Sullivan, master, Tim Bryce, senior deacon, John Grasso, past master, and Warren Bundy, tyler.

George Benham, district deputy grand master, presided. The lecture was delivered by Jim Rocha, district instructor and member of Tampa Bay Lodge, and the charge was delivered by Sam Lampson of Clearwater Lodge. Refreshments were provided by John Tyrkala of Sutherland Lodge.

Italian-American group

holds annual brunch

To celebrate its seventh anniversary, Le Italo-Americane Di Oggi (The Italian-American Women of Today _ LIADO) held its annual brunch last month at Countryside Country Club. The guest speaker was U.S. Attorney Donna Bucella, chief law enforcement officer for the Middle District of Florida. She was made an honorary member and commended for being the first Italian-American woman in Florida to hold this position.

Also honored was Steven R. Ostrowski, this year's recipient of the group's $1,000 scholarship. He is a sophomore at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology majoring in computer science and electrical engineering. DAV Auxiliary Unit 11

installs officers

At a meeting recently at Banquet Masters in Pinellas Park, the following officers of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 11, Clearwater, were installed: Beverly Brethauer, commander, Maude Mortti, senior vice commander; Dexter Newsome, junior vice commander; Corrine Holland, chaplain; Shirley Kirkland, adjutant; Janne Lowe, treasurer; Rhea Garrett, conductress; and Geraldine Martin, sergeant at arms. Garrett is also conductress for the state DAV.

The following committee chairpersons were also installed: Mildred DeShaw, patriotic; Betty Tittle, Americanism; Gladys Mraz, hospitals; Claire Bernius, legislation; and Shirley Kirkland, community service and membership.
