An early morning blaze Thursday burned about half of an auto parts and sales building on Drew Street.
Police spokesman Wayne Shelor said the cause of the fire at Skycrest Auto Sales at 2004 Drew St. is under investigation. Fire officials estimated damage at $100,000.
"Circumstances at this point lead us to believe it's suspicious," he said, declining to elaborate.
The fire was reported in a 911 call at 5:15 a.m. When firefighters arrived, the rear of the single-story building was engulfed in flames that shot through the roof. Some small explosions in the building were attributed to motorcycle fuel tanks, Shelor said.
Walls and the roof were destroyed at the rear half of the building. The fire also destroyed a truck, a van, auto parts and office equipment.
