Dunedin to hire appraiser to assess St. Andrews Links

City Commissioners voted Thursday to spend $4,000 to hire an appraiser to set a price on St. Andrews Links, the private par-3 golf course the city is considering purchasing. The 27-acre golf course at 620 Palm Blvd. is adjacent to the city's championship golf course leased by Dunedin Country Club. Through an attorney, the owners of St. Andrews Links, Tom Lokey and Dan Doyle, both of Belleair, notified the city last year that the property was for sale. They paid $940,000 for it in 1991, according to Pinellas County Property Appraiser records. It is assessed for tax purposes at $571,000. City officials have said they are interested in the land to keep it as green space. St. Andrews Links has a driving range and an 18-hole par-3 executive course. The appraiser, Tropical Realty of Tampa, will have the appraisal ready in 30 days.
