SCHOOLS ROUNDUP

HEALTH CARE OFFERED FOR KIDS: Florida KidCare, a child health insurance program, is accepting applications for children who are not covered by health insurance. Funded by federal, state and private partnerships, Florida KidCare offers a full range of benefits, including doctor visits, hospital care, lab tests and prescription medicines. CROSSING GUARDS NEEDED: The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office needs individuals who would like to work as crossing guards. Guards are paid $7.82 per hour and are required to work two hours a day, approximately one hour before school and one hour after. Uniforms and safety equipment will be furnished. AMERICAN HISTORY AWARDS: Twenty-one Hillsborough County high school students were honored Thursday for outstanding achievement in American history at a special banquet hosted by the Woodmen of the World, Lodge No. 37. Each high school nominated one student, who received an award and a gift. Area students honored include Brian Hoover, Chamberlain High; Courtney Fox, Gaither High; Madelyn Alverez, Leto High; James Lyon, Sickles High; and Jennifer Fiore, Wharton High. The Lodge has honored students for achievement in American History since 1992.
