The Kappa Nu Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at Central Florida Community College's Ocala Campus, recently received two awards at the 2000 PTK International Convention held in Orlando. The George O. Bierkoe Distinguished Member Award was given to student George Canella and the Continued Excellence Award for Advisers was given to Dr. Tom Weaver.

The real estate associates of RE/MAX Realtor One recently gave the Children's Miracle Network a check for more than $4,800 to help fund research and medical assistance for children. The Children's Miracle Network supports children's hospitals across the country with All Children's Hospital in Tampa benefiting from local contributions.
