5 county schools among state's best in all-sports listings

Winter Park, Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas, Titusville Astronaut, Jacksonville Bolles, North Palm Beach Benjamin and Saddlebrook Prep led their respective classifications in the 2000 Dodge Sunshine Cup FHSAA Floyd E. Lay All-Sports Awards point standings.

Five Pinellas County schools placed in the top 10 overall, and Keswick Christian placed first in Class 2A girls standings. Overall, the Crusaders were tied for third with Seminole Presbyterian.

Palm Harbor University was sixth overall in Class 5A, and in the girls standings the Hurricanes placed third.

Lakewood placed seventh overall in 4A and its girls placed fifth. Clearwater Central Catholic was 10th overall in 3A, and 10th in the girls standings. Canterbury was ninth overall in Class A, and its boys placed fourth.

The Clearwater girls placed 10th in 5A.

Points are awarded based on a school's finish in FHSAA State Series competition. The top 32 places are scored in each sport.

Winners will be honored at the FHSAA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Awards Banquet on June 15 at the Wyndham Westshore Hotel in Tampa.
