Man arrested after shoving deputy

(ran PW PS editions)

A 21-year-old New Port Richey man was arrested after he shoved a sheriff's deputy, then spit on him as deputies broke up an argument between the man and his mother late Sunday night.

Jesse James Knapp, 21, 6151 Glenwood Drive, was arrested and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer at 10:20 p.m. Sunday. Deputies went to Knapp's mother's home on a domestic disturbance call.

According to an arrest report: While deputies were talking to the mother, Knapp shoved a deputy and started yelling "Now you've got what you want."

Deputies arrested Knapp, and as they put him in a patrol car, he spit on one of them.

Knapp was being held in the Land O'Lakes jail Monday in lieu of $5,000 bail.
