If you want to be on top of the Sydney Games as they happen, check out these sites all preceded by http://www. except as noted.

NBCOLYMPICS.COM: The site promises comprehensive coverage of all sports and almost instant results.

SPTIMES.COM/OLYMPICS: Stories from Times staff writers and the Associated Press will keep you up on local and international highlights.

OLYMPICS.COM: The official site, and the best place to get tickets for 2004 in Athens. They go on sale next month.

ESPN.COM/OLY/SUMMER00: ESPN has loads of content, but not enough pictures. Check out the Olympic Challenge interactive game.

CNNSI.COM/OLYMPICS: CNNSI.com has several big-name athlete diaries, and "Olympic Daily,' a hard-copy product in Atlanta, will go online in Sydney.

FOXSPORTS.COM/OLYMPICS/2000: Plenty of video highlights from news conferences and interviews, photo galleries from Olympic Trials.

OLYMPICS.SPORTSLINE.COM: There's no www. with this one. Sportsline has had a steady lineup of Olympic chats, and the "Parade of Nations" feature is a great educational tool.

USOLYMPICTEAM.COM: The official site of the U.S. Olympic Committee, with pages for all sports from the Summer and Winter games.

OUROLYMPICS.COM: Aussie-based site has a Torch Tracker feature, which has followed the Olympic Torch for the past three months.

USABOXING.ORG: Read up on St. Petersburg's Jeff Lacy and his Sydney-bound teammates.

USA-SWIMMING.ORG: This site has a special section on the Olympics, including an audio clip from Valrico's Brooke Bennett.

FIVB.ORG: International volleyball federation's home has coverage of both regular and beach events, plus non-Olympic sport news.

USATF.ORG: U.S. Track and Field's site has profiles on runners, including Brooksville's John Capel, results from the Olympic Trials and a great records page.

SALTLAKE2002.COM: Never too early to look ahead, and the site's countdown shows only 516 days until the Winter Games.
