A Palm Harbor man who was driving north in the southbound lanes of U.S. 19 was killed early Saturday when he hit a sport utility vehicle, police say. Matthew David Gladden, 25, was driving the wrong way about 2:45 a.m. when he hit the southbound Ford Explorer driven by Ronald Leflore of Pinellas Park just south of East Bay Drive, according to Largo police. Gladden's Jeep Cherokee then was hit by a southbound Ford pickup driven by Marcelo Alvarado-Hernandez of Tampa. Gladden, of 605 Channing Drive, died at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg.
