For the Hurricanes, the first two weeks of the season have been a breeze. They are 4-0, including victories over county power East Lake and previously undefeated Ridgewood.
Yet while Palm Harbor University hasn't had to deal with many obstacles so far, there have been plenty for its setter, Casey Baird, to clear.
The senior had knee surgery in January and rehabbed for six months.
Now healthy, she has been the catalyst for the Hurricanes' quick start.
She already holds the school record for aces (87), and coach Karen Kreger said she most likely will break the school record for assists.
"She has a lot of knowledge, and she has really stood out," Kreger said.
