An Atlanta man became the 23rd person attacked by a shark in Florida waters this year when he was bitten on the foot.
Terrill Crane, 40, said he was walking in 3 feet of water Friday when he saw a 5-foot shark coming at him. So he kicked it and it bit him on the left foot.
"I called to my wife to get out of the water, then I got out," he said.
He was treated and released at a local hospital.
Florida leads the world in shark bites, recording 25 last year.
On Aug. 30, a shark killed a 69-year-old man near St. Petersburg _ the fifth fatal attack in Florida during the past 25 years.
