Louie Crawford, left, a former newsboy for the Evening Independent, gets his wish to be first to sit on a bench after dedication Saturday of a bronze sculpture outside the St. Petersburg Museum of History. Crawford recalls his 1926 job: "I was 9 years old. And I remember it like it was yesterday." The statue Get the News! by sculptor J. Seward Johnson Jr. celebrates the 90th anniversary of the Sunshine Offer by editor Lew Brown, who said the Evening Independent would be given away free on days when the sun didn't shine. The offer drew national attention to the city.
