TGI Friday's lands first at shopping center site

Developer Steve Dibbs has finally inked a deal with the first tenant for his 11-acre shopping center site at N Dale Mabry and Hoedt Lane.

Construction has begun on an outparcel that will be a TGI Friday's restaurant.

The addition gives N Dale Mabry a clean sweep of fun-styled family eateries. An Applebee's (15090 N Dale Mabry) is just a few blocks north, Bennigan's (13262 N Dale Mabry) is a mile or so south, and Chili's (13050 N Dale Mabry) is just south of that.

"I'm very happy about it," said Dibbs, who has been working on the project for 11 years. "It's been so difficult to just get it all together, but we're off and running now."

When the shopping center is complete, Dibbs will be leasing 100,000 square feet of office and business space. The TGI Friday's structure is going up now, and diners could be ordering jalapeno poppers by Christmas.

Dibbs' property has been under development for the past year, and the only recent activity was a pair of clearance car sales. Dibbs said he expects to sign on more tenants in the coming months.
