(ran PC edition)
County commissioners are scheduled today to discuss an offer from Hillsborough County to pay half the costs of realigning the intersection of Livingston and County Line roads in Lutz. Each county would pay $500,000 under the agreement. But there's a catch: Hillsborough wants Pasco to guarantee it won't widen Willow Bend Parkway from two lanes to four, a project scheduled for 2010. Also, Hillsborough County wants Pasco to pay for a traffic light at French Lane and Willow Bend should that intersection meet the state guidelines for lights. Pasco County Administrator John Gallagher said the staff in both counties doubt that corner ever will qualify for a traffic light. Nor does he think the county can guarantee that it won't ever need to widen Willow Bend to four lanes. But he plans to update county commissioners on Hillsborough's latest offer and ask them what they want to do next. Today's meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Historic Pasco County Courthouse in downtown Dade City.
