PENNEY DETAILS JOB CUTS: J.C. Penney Co. Inc. said it cut more than 2,500 jobs as it closed department stores and Eckerd drugstores and trimmed other staff. The Plano, Texas, company, which has 290,000 employees, disclosed the cuts in a 10-Q filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The store closings, including 45 department stores and 279 drugstores, were first announced in February. Through the first half of the fiscal year that began Jan. 30, Penney's shuttered 36

department stores. At the Eckerd chain, 270 stores were closed.

Earnings

Kreisler Manufacturing Corp.

The St. Petersburg company, which makes aerospace parts, blamed adverse market conditions and costs to expand its business for a drop in fourth-quarter performance. Kreisler's fiscal year ended June 30.
