In Coachman Park, a young live oak tree was recently planted and designated as the city of Clearwater's Freedom Tree at a ceremony conducted by the color guard of Clearwater Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
The tree and a brass plaque stands behind the main Clearwater Library. Thomas E. Nocero of Clearwater offered the following remarks at the dedication ceremony: "It is our hope and prayer that this fine tree and the plaque and dedication will provide an appropriate reminder of our liberty and honor the role of our patriot forefathers."

PEO awards woman $1,500 grant
Donna K. Prough of Clearwater was recently awarded a grant for $1,500 by the trustees for the PEO Program for Continuing Education. Prough is a student in the computer networking program at St. Petersburg Junior College, Clearwater, and is working toward a certificate as a Microsoft certified systems engineer.

Pinellas Parents of Multiples elects officers
Pinellas Parents of Multiples recently elected the following officers: Lisa Brown, president; Tracy Tolliver, first vice president; Pat Senn, second vice president; Kim Cummings, treasurer; and Debbie Bauerlin, secretary. The organization is a support group for parents of twins, triplets and higher-order multiple births. It meets at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month at Mease Dunedin Hospital.
