First grades students at Homosassa Elementary School were asked: "If a big hurricane were headed toward you, how would you and your family get ready for it?"
JONATHAN SIMMONS, 6, "The first thing that I would do is put everything in one place. When the hurricane comes, everyone will get under it, and when the hurricane is gone, everyone will get out and put everything away. If the roof blows off, then we need to build a new roof."
HUNTER JASTER, 6, "All we would need to do is go outside, get in the back yard and get in our bunker. I think we're going to take some food. One thing from the yard I would take _ one of my favorite things _ small little soldiers that I could play with so I didn't get bored."
CHAD KAUFMANN, 6, "We'll wake up and we'll go and hide behind a big rock. (I would take) my cat, my turtle and my fish. They're Dalmatian fish."
RICHARD CARLTON, 6, "We would pack up and go somewhere where the hurricane wouldn't come, and when it's gone, we'll go look at our house, and if it's not ruined or anything, we'll go back."
