Steven Spielberg is to be knighted by Great Britain, an honor conferred on those who have made an important contribution to relations with the country.

"The award of an honorary knighthood recognizes Steven Spielberg's extraordinary contribution to the entertainment industry and the British film industry over the last 25 years," the British Embassy said Thursday.

Spielberg will receive the honor from ambassador Christopher Meyer on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II on Jan. 29.

Americans admitted to membership of British Orders of Chivalry are not called "Sir," but Spielberg can place the letters KBE after his name.

Four Seasons singer

Nick Massi dies at 73

Nick Massi, an original member of the Four Seasons who handled bass vocals and vocal arrangements throughout the band's glory days in the 1960s, has died of cancer. He was 73.

Massi, born in Newark as Nicholas Macioci, died Sunday. The longtime West Orange resident performed with several bands before joining Frankie Valli in a group called the Four Lovers.

By 1961, the group had evolved into the Four Seasons.

Massi remained with the group until 1965. He performed on hits such as Sherry, Big Girls Don't Cry, Walk Like a Man and Rag Doll.

Movie correction

United Artists Movies at Clearwater is not showing Cast Away this weekend. Because of late changes by theater management, the movie timeclocks in Thursday's Weekend, today's Floridian, Saturday's Home & Garden and Sunday's Floridian (which were printed in advance) are incorrect. Call the theater for show times.
