Port Richey Days Inn renamed as Travelodge

(ran PW, PS editions)

The Days Inn and Suites at 11736 U.S. 19 has become a Travelodge.

Franchisee Mahendra Patel has spent $350,000 adding amenities such as 25-inch TVs, hair dryers and coffeemakers to the motel's 153 rooms and redecorating its 34 suites.

Patel also re-opened the Town House Diner, a 200-seat restaurant in the motel.

Rates will remain at $49 to $89 per night.

Patel is also a franchisee for a Knights Inn in Orlando.

The Knights Inn, Days Inn and Travelodge brands are owned by Parsippany, N.J.-based Cendant Corp.

Patel said he decided to make the change because he would be able to offer more services and amenities under the Travelodge flag, and better compete with the other hotels along U.S. 19.
