Martz is thinking about Turner as Rams assistant

Norv Turner, fired earlier this month as coach of Washington, could land a job next season as offensive coordinator with the Rams and former protege Mike Martz.

Martz was quarterbacks coach for Turner in 1997 and '98 at Washington before joining the Rams as offensive coordinator. He said the two spoke on the telephone this week, but not specifically about a position.

He added he and Turner speak "about once a week or once every other week."

"Shoot, I just asked him what he was doing and what he wanted to do," Martz said, emphasizing the situation is speculation at this point. "Thinking about it, it might be a lot of fun. Shoot, that's what I would enjoy most, having that other thought process in there to go over things."

WARNER UPDATE: Rams quarterback Kurt Warner, who left practice Thursday for a scheduled checkup after last week's concussion, complained to doctors about being sensitive to light. It was still bothering him in Friday's practice, although he will start today.

On Wednesday, Warner said he had been headache-free for two days. Light sensitivity began bothering him on Thursday, he said.

"I didn't have a lot of concerns, it was just that I wasn't feeling completely normal," said Warner, who passed his checkup. "So I just wanted to bring it to their attention and go through the tests and make sure everything checked out fine."

READY FOR BATTLE: Saints tight end Andrew Glover has no doubt thingA will get fierce today at the Superdome when New Orleans plays the Rams for the third time in six weeks.

"Bad blood? Are you kidding me? You didn't even have to ask that question," he said. "This is going to be a war."

EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Giants linebacker Jessie Armstead said his team is more mature heading into the playoffs compared with 1997, when New York was beaten at home in the divisional round by Minnesota.

"This is a whole different team," Armstead said. "We don't have guys who are just happy to be here. We've got guys that know what it takes to win."
