A pedestrian struck by a car on U.S. 19 near Enterprise Road on Wednesday evening was in serious condition Friday at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

Richard Waid, 48, of 210 Lotus Drive, Palm Harbor, was walking east across U.S. 19 when he was hit by a 1984 Thunderbird driven by Ryan Eck, 21, of 216 Fifth Ave. N, Safety Harbor, according to Clearwater police.

Waid was taken by Bayflite helicopter to the hospital. Police said Eck used a turn lane as a passing lane and hit Waid. Police Sgt. Robert Wierzba said at the scene that both the driver and pedestrian were at fault in the crash. Police spokesman Wayne Shelor said the investigation is continuing and no citations had been issued as of Friday.
