Hobbled Platts returns to fuel a Dolphins rally

Senior guard Shawn Platts, playing on a tender ankle, scored seven of his 19 points in the final 2{ minutes to lead Jacksonville to a 73-70 win over Lehigh on Saturday.

Platts went out with an ankle injury with 14:21 left in the game and the score tied at 42. Lehigh scored 13 straight points over the next 4:40 to take a 55-42 lead.

When Platts returned with eight minutes left, the Dolphins trailed 61-48. His jumper started a 14-2 run over 4{ minutes to bring JU within 63-62. Neither team led by more than three the rest of the game.

Lehigh took its last lead at 70-69 on a layup by Zlatko Savovich with 55 seconds left. Platts then made two free throws with 35 seconds left. Brandon Williams added two more with eight seconds left.

MISSOURI 89, STETSON 64: Arthur Johnson scored 10 points and had a school-record eight blocks for the Tigers.

Johnson shattered the mark of five blocks, accomplished 10 times.

Kareem Rush led the Tigers with 25 points and had 12 rebounds. Missouri improved to 5-0 at home and bounced back from an 86-81 overtime loss against No. 5 Illinois.

UCF 88, E. CAROLINA 81: Paul Reed scored 22 points and Joey Graham added 17 as the host Golden Knights held off a rally. East Carolina trailed by as many as 18 points in the second half but made five three-pointers in the final 1:13 to cut the deficit to 77-72. UCF made 9 of 10 free throws down the stretch.
