Lemieux, Jagr hit scoring milestones

Mario Lemieux had three assists and a goal in Pittsburgh's 5-3 win over Ottawa on Saturday to become the 10th player with 1,500 points, and teammate Jaromir Jagr scored two goals and had an assist to reach 1,000 points.

Lemieux, the Hall of Famer and owner who ended his 3{-year retirement Wednesday, reached 1,500 points 1 minute, 28 seconds into the third period.

He collected the puck at the right side of the net and quickly passed it to Jagr in the slot for Jagr's second goal and Lemieux's third assist of the game.

Lemieux added an empty-net goal with 13 seconds left with assists from Jagr and Jan Hrdina. Six of the 10 players with 1,500 points are active.

"I said when I was coming back that I expected to play at a high level," Lemieux said. "I was prepared to play like I can play. And I think I can play better than I've been playing."

Jagr earned his 1,000th point on a second-period goal set up by Lemieux. Jagr, in his 11th season, is the 59th player, 18th active, to reach the milestone.

Jagr has four goals in two games since Lemieux returned.
