Choir thanks donors with show

Tarpon Springs High School's show choir, Syndicated Sound, presents A Tour through the South at 7 p.m. Friday at the high school's auditorium, 1411 Gulf Road.

This is a free show so the choir can thank the community for helping it raise $16,000 of the $25,000 needed to go to Branson, Mo., for the national show choir competition. Last year, the group placed seventh at the competition.

Psychologist speaks this month

EAST LAKE _ Sylvia Rimm, a psychologist and contributing correspondent to NBC's Today show, will give two free talks this month on "family and school approaches to guiding children toward achievement." She is the author of How Jane Won: The Rimm Report on How Girls Become Successful Women.

Rimm, a clinical professor at the Case Western University School of Medicine in Cleveland, will speak from 7 to 8:30 p.m. March 28 at East Lake High School's Theater Auditorium, 1300 Silver Eagle Drive.

discusses books

EAST LAKE _ Local author Theresa Sandberg-Arnston, who goes by the pen name Catherine Arnold, will be a guest at the April meeting of the East Lake Community Library Book Club.

Sandberg-Arnston lives in Palm Harbor and has written four books, Wrongful Death, Imperfect Justice, Due Process and Class Action.

The lead character in the novels is Karen Perry-Mondori, who is a Pinellas County defense attorney. Extensive references to North Pinellas locations are made throughout the books.

The author will lead a discussion and sign books on April 19 at 7 p.m. The discussion is part of a monthly book club series offered at the library. On March 21, the group will discuss In a Sunburned Country by Bill Bryson. On May 16, the selection is An Hour Before Daylight by President Jimmy Carter.
