Third-grade art students at Tampa Palms Elementary School painted dozens of ceiling tiles in the cafeteria over the past five weeks as part of their study of Henri Matisse. On Friday, the school finished installing the brightly colored tiles. Art teacher Joe Dyals gave the students copies of Matisse paintings as a guide. "They picked out the shapes and came up with their own composites," he said. "Some of these turned out fabulous." Fifth-graders painted ceramic tiles of bugs and flowers as part of a grant from the Hillsborough County Arts Council. Here, technology teacher Tom Martin installs some of the ceramic tiles under the gaze of Hannah Camp, 11, and Danny Dudley, 10.
