Swim team wins Clearwater meet

The St. Petersburg Masters swim team last month won the Clearwater Aquatic Team's Winter Invitational, topping 24 other teams.

Swimmers winning high point awards included Robert Atwood, Dick Avery, Harold Ferris, Konrad Euler, Charles Kohnken, Pat Marzulli, Barbara Atwood, Sandy Steer, JoAnn Harrelson and Allison Beebe.

Other point scorers included Ralph Coxhead, Robert Beach, Mike Torsney, William Specht, Robert Melsom, Tim Kennedy, John Galloway, Karen West, Judy Tibma, Patty Conolly, Maud Orlando and Livia Zien.

Also last month, Pete Arnold won five events at the Hall of Fame masters meet in Fort Lauderdale.

St. Petersburg Masters will hold its 31st annual short course championships March 30-April 1 at North Shore Pool, 901 North Shore Drive.

Billed as the world's longest-running masters' meet, it will be held in memory of longtime masters swimmer Jayne Lambke and will honor club coach George Bole's retirement. Admission is free.
