EDMONTON, Alberta _ The New Jersey Devils' streak is still alive, but they paid for it in blood.

In a game between surging teams, the Devils defeated Edmonton 6-5 in overtime for their 10th straight win, extending their franchise record. The Oilers were 9-0-1 going in, marking the seventh time in history teams with undefeated streaks of at least nine games played.

"Anybody who paid for a ticket got their money's worth," New Jersey coach Larry Robinson said. "But it certainly wasn't a coach's dream."

Patrik Elias was struck by a puck in the third period, leaving him bloodied with cuts in both lips. But with less than nine seconds left in overtime he delivered the winner to complete a hat trick.
