A St. Patrick's Day party touted as the largest in the state was fairly peaceful Saturday night. Police estimated that 6,000 to 9,000 people poured into O'Keefe's, 1219 S Fort Harrison Ave., for a holiday party that has been a tradition for about 20 years.
Problems with overcrowding and unruly behavior in the past prompted city officials to ask the owners to hire more police officers this year. Fifteen officers working at the party Saturday night charged two people with disorderly conduct and two with trespassing, one of whom also was charged with resisting arrest without violence, said police spokesman Wayne Shelor.
Police ejected 10 people from the party and wrote five parking citations, Shelor said. Elsewhere in the city, police arrested three people for drunken driving on Saturday. Shelor said that is down from last year's number. Officers on Saturday night also made one misdemeanor arrest, wrote three criminal citations, issued 57 moving violations, 28 non-moving violations and issued 28 warnings.
